Year 7 CVL Winners
On Thursday 9th November, 11 South Charnwood year 7 girls travelled to Bosworth Academy to take part in a football area tournament. This was the first time we had seen them in match action representing the school.
Our first game was against Hastings, we started the game in excellent fashion with a goal from Skye Eames inside 15 seconds, putting us 1-0 ahead. Hastings then got back into the game with some excellent play. They were quickly ahead 2-1 in no time. SCHS girls battled and fought extremely well and managed to get back in the game thanks to Nia Patel with a close range strike. We then managed to go ahead in the dying minutes thanks to Priya Singh’s fantastic free kick and win the game 3-2.
Our second game was more a one sided affair with goals from all over the pitch. The SCHS girls were 5-0 winners and this sealed our spot into the semi-finals. Our semi-final was against St Martins. The girls showed some real class in this game. There were fantastic goals all over the pitch again and we had an impressive 7-0 win. Pick of the goals was excellent play from Pearl Askam at the back who played the ball out wide to Skye Evans who hit the ball into the box for Lola Tomlinson to hit the bottom left hand corner of the net. The win put us into the final v Brookvale.
This game started very even and there was not much between the two sides before our girls upped the ante and started to pepper the Brookvale box. There was plenty of chances in favour of SCHS but we were unable to the find the back of the Net. This took us to penalties. Our girls were extremely brave in stepping up to take them and came out the winners which meant champions of our local area and now through to the Knockout rounds.
A massive well done to all the year 7 girls who took part. Mr Coyne & Mr Whitley were extremely proud of the girls!
