In Mission Space Lab teams are invited to write computer programs that solve a scientific task in space. Last year’s task was to gather data to calculate the speed at which the International Space Station (ISS) was traveling as accurately as possible. A YouTube link that explains the challenge: https://youtu.be/hGHs42AmB0c
Across the 22 member states of the European Space Agency, 236 teams comprised of 889 individuals achieved flight status and had their code run in space, 61 of these teams were from the UK and two of those were from South Charnwood High School’s Computer Science department!

Well done to Tomas, Joshua, Thomas and Harry, expertly lead by SCHS's Mr King.

Here are some of the photographs taken by a camera on the International Space Station that the boys controlled using Python code.
